Bud Walton Arena

Bud Walton Arena, named after James “Bud” Walton, co-founder the iconic Walmart we know today, as an appreciation of his hefty donation, out of his goodwill during the construction process of the arena.

The arena, otherwise known as Basketball Palace of Mid-America, is located in 1240 Leroy Pond Dr, Fayetteville. It is the home court for Razorbacks’ Men and Women Basketball teams. It is the fifth-largest in-campus basketball arena in the entire state which can accommodate roughly 19,368 eager spectators.

The arena is open Mondays through Fridays, from 8 am until 5 pm, and closed during weekends. The tickets are adequately priced and reasonable for both upper level and lower level sitting. They also have spacious free parking. Head out to the arena about one hour to thirty minutes before the game so you’ll have time to check out the Arkansas Athletic museum before heading inside the arena. the Arkansas Athletic museum is located at the ground level. The museum relives the highlights of the Razorbacks’ groundbreaking success during the 1993-1994 NCAA championship. You can also check out the Hog Heaven store before you enter the arena. The store sells an assortment of merchandise from the Razorbacks’ basketball team. The inside atmosphere is usually competitive and cheerful. The usual attendance rate for every game is roughly 85% which means that the arena is almost at its full capacity.

Any live game viewing experience is not complete without snacks, right? The selections of food they sell here are perfect for a college basketball vibe. Some of these are nachos and pretzels, Jack Link’s jerky, popcorn, hot dogs, and smoked sausage, BBQ Pork sandwiches, BBQ pork nachos, pulled pork mac stacks, individual mac & cheese, and coleslaw all within a student-friendly budget. The refreshments available are sodas and Pepsi products. Alcoholic drinks are not allowed inside though.

This is overall an awesome venue for watching a basketball game with your family or peers. The food is great, as well as the lively atmosphere. It is a worthwhile experience to include in your Arkansas tour bucket list!
