Travis came out to diagnose my garage door opener after I explain to him how my warranty company denied my claim due to a dishonest report filed by a technician from Winston Garage Door company whom they sent out. In the report my opener was burned out due to my faulty garage door. Travis was able to get my opener working again by adjusting the sensors. My opener was not burned out as initially reported. THANK YOU for your honestly and professionalism. God is going to bless you and your business!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
New Garage Door Openers
Little Rock, AR
LiftMaster · Genie · Chamberlain · Same-Day Service
Not every opener that stops working needs to be replaced. A significant percentage of "dead opener" calls are actually safety sensor issues, stripped drive gears, or worn-out remotes — not motor failure. We diagnose the actual cause before recommending anything. If you do need a new opener, we stock LiftMaster belt drive, chain drive, and wall-mount units with smart Wi-Fi and battery backup. If your current unit just stopped working, you may not need a replacement at all — start with garage door opener repair.
Quick Answer — When to Replace Your Opener
Garage door opener repair in Little Rock typically costs $100–$275 for parts and labor. A full replacement runs $625–$1,200+ installed, depending on drive type and features. Direct Service Garage Doors diagnoses the actual problem before recommending either option — we don't default to replacement when a $150 gear swap will fix it.
Your garage door opener is the automation system — but the springs do the actual lifting. When an opener fails, the cause is usually mechanical (stripped gears, worn trolley) or electrical (dead capacitor, faulty logic board, sensor misalignment), not the motor itself. A proper diagnosis takes 15 minutes and saves you from spending $600 on a new opener when the problem was a $40 capacitor.
Our trucks carry gears, capacitors, logic boards, safety sensors, remotes, and keypads for all major brands. Most opener repairs are completed same-day in a single visit.
Garage Door Opener Types — Which One Is Right For You
Every opener uses one of four drive mechanisms. The right choice depends on your garage layout, noise tolerance, and budget.
Chain Drive
The workhorse. A metal chain pulls the trolley along the rail. Reliable, affordable, and easy to maintain — but noticeably loud. Best for detached garages where noise isn't a factor.
- Noise Level Loud
- Best For Detached garages
- Lifespan 10–15 years
- Price (installed) Starting at $625
- Brands We Carry Genie ($625+), LiftMaster ($675+)
Belt Drive
A reinforced rubber belt replaces the chain — same mechanism, dramatically less noise. The go-to choice for attached garages, especially with bedrooms above or adjacent to the garage. This is what we install most in Little Rock.
- Noise Level Very Quiet
- Best For Attached garages, bedrooms above
- Lifespan 12–18 years
- Price (installed) Starting at $725
- Brands We Carry LiftMaster, Chamberlain
Wall-Mount / Jackshaft
Mounts to the wall beside the door instead of the ceiling. Frees up overhead space for storage, high-lift doors, or unusually shaped garages. Near-silent operation. Premium price point but worth it for the right application.
- Noise Level Near Silent
- Best For Low ceilings, storage, high-lift
- Lifespan 15–20 years
- Price (installed) Starting at $1,000
- Brands We Carry LiftMaster 8500W
Every Major Opener Brand — Installed by Direct Service
We stock parts and carry replacement units for all of these. If your opener brand isn't listed, call us — we've probably worked on it.
LiftMaster
Our primary recommendation. Professional-grade openers made by Chamberlain Group. Built-in myQ Wi-Fi, battery backup available, best-in-class warranty. This is what we install on our own homes.
Chamberlain
The residential line from the same manufacturer as LiftMaster. Solid quality, myQ compatible, widely available. A great mid-range option for homeowners who want smart features without the premium price.
Genie
Independent manufacturer with a strong product line. Aladdin Connect smart platform, reliable belt and chain drives. We service all Genie models and carry common repair parts on every truck.
Craftsman
Now manufactured by Chamberlain Group. Older Craftsman openers (pre-2015) have unique parts — we stock the most common failure components including gears, capacitors, and logic boards.
Marantec
German-engineered openers known for quiet operation and durability. Less common in Central Arkansas but we service them fully. DC motor models are among the quietest on the market.
Overhead Door
Legacy brand with commercial and residential lines. We service all models and can source parts for older units that other companies can't work on.
We Fix These Every Day
Most opener problems have a straightforward fix. Here's what we see across Central Arkansas — and what each one actually costs.
Motor Runs, Door Doesn't Move
Almost always a stripped drive gear or broken trolley carriage — not the motor. A $150–$200 repair, not a $600 replacement. We carry gears for all major brands on every truck.
Opener Light Blinks, Won't Close
Safety sensor misalignment. The infrared beam at the floor is interrupted or out of alignment. Usually a 15-minute fix — realign sensors, clean lenses, check wiring. No parts needed.
Remote Won't Work
Could be dead batteries (check first), a deprogrammed remote, or a faulty antenna on the motor head. We reprogram and replace remotes and keypads on the spot.
Opener Is Extremely Loud
Chain drive openers get louder as they age — chain stretches, hardware loosens, lubrication dries out. A chain adjustment + lubrication often solves it. If it's unbearable, a belt drive upgrade is the permanent fix.
Door Reverses Before Closing
Force or travel limit settings need adjustment, or there's a track obstruction the sensors are detecting. We recalibrate the opener and inspect the full track path.
Opener Completely Dead
Check the outlet first — GFCI outlets trip during storms and kill the opener power. If the outlet is live, the issue is usually a blown capacitor or fried logic board. Both are repairable parts we carry.

In Central Arkansas, a new garage door opener installed typically costs $625–$1,200+ depending on drive type and features. Genie chain drive openers start at $625 installed, LiftMaster chain drives at $675. Belt drive openers start at $725. Wall-mount/jackshaft units start at $1,000. All pricing includes installation, programming, and a 3-year parts warranty.
If your opener is under 10 years old and the issue is a worn gear, stripped trolley, or faulty logic board, repair is usually the better value. If it's 15+ years old, lacks safety features like auto-reverse or rolling code technology, or the motor is failing, replacement is the smarter investment — especially with today's smart openers offering battery backup and Wi-Fi.
We primarily install and recommend LiftMaster — the professional-grade brand made by Chamberlain Group. We also service and install Genie, Chamberlain (residential line), Craftsman, and Marantec. LiftMaster is our default recommendation because of build quality, warranty support, and myQ smart home integration.
Chain drive openers use a metal chain to move the trolley — they're reliable and affordable but noticeably loud. Belt drive openers use a reinforced rubber belt — near-silent operation, ideal for attached garages with bedrooms above. Belt drives cost $100–$200 more but the noise difference is dramatic.
Yes. We install LiftMaster openers with built-in myQ Wi-Fi, which lets you open, close, and monitor your garage door from your phone anywhere. We also install battery backup units so your door operates during power outages — critical during Central Arkansas storm season.
Most residential opener installations are completed in 1.5–2.5 hours. This includes removing the old unit, installing the new opener, programming remotes and keypads, setting force and travel limits, testing safety sensors, and walking you through the features.
If the motor runs but the door doesn't move, the most common cause is a stripped drive gear or broken trolley carriage. Less commonly, the emergency release cord may have been pulled. Check the red hanging cord first — if it's pulled down, push the trolley back toward the motor until it clicks.
Yes. Opener repair is same-day service throughout Central Arkansas. Our trucks carry gears, capacitors, logic boards, safety sensors, remotes, and keypads. Most opener repairs are completed in a single visit with no return trip for parts.

Parnell Lester from Direct Service showed up at my home on time and professionally and safely installed my new garage door opener. He was quick to listen to all my questions, answered and addressed my concerns, and got my new garage door opener installed and working great. And all in some tremendous heat and humidity. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to install a new garage door opener.
From the first moment my wife talked to Rhonda at Direct Services on Saturday we were sold on getting a new garage door from Direct Services. Rhonda scheduled Pernell to come the next day. Pernell was on time, very courteous, and gave us a quote, not only for new door but to install a garage door opener. Parnell even fixed our existing door so it could be secured. This was done on a Sunday. Monday morning Rhonda called and said Joey would be there at 2 on Tuesday afternoon to install a new door and garage door opener. Joey arrived, and in about 3 hours he had the old door off, new door on and garage door opener installed and everything cleaned and ready to be hauled off in his truck. To say Joey was awesome would be an understatement. All I can say is Rhonda, Pernell and Joey are a true assets to Direct Doors as employees. They care about their customers satisfaction and go above and beyond to make sure you’re satisfied. If you’re ever are in need of a garage door, repairs, or installation of garage door opener, give Rhonda a call. Then sit back, relax and let Parnell and Joey do all the work! Thank you Direct Services.

It does pay too call on someone who has loads of experience and is so professional and honest. I will never use any other company and when my friends or family need something done involving garage door services, I will most certainly refer them to Direct Service Garage Door!! 5+ Star Excellence!!

Travis (owner) is an excellent man. Truly appreciate his timeliness and honest opinion. I fully expected to pay for a brand-new motor on my LiftMaster garage door opener, but Travis took the time to properly reset it the right way — and didn’t charge me a dime. He simply said, “It’s on the house. Please think of us if you have any more issues.” Wife & I were beyond grateful! Especially during this holiday season, it meant more than I can put into words to meet someone who genuinely cares about people and doing the right thing. Travis, thank you for your integrity, professionalism, time and your kindness. Absolutely recommend Direct Service Garage Doors to all! Thank you again, — Shawn, Kate & Family
