Mr. Parnell came out and replaced broken torsion springs, rollers, etc and got me back up and running quickly and on the same day I called. Very friendly and knows what he is doing. Very easy to work with. Would recommend.

That loud bang was your torsion spring. Most companies will swap the spring and leave. We diagnose the full system — springs, cables, drums, end bearings — and give you three honest options. Fix it fast, fix it right, or rebuild the whole mechanical system for a door that performs like new.
Garage door spring repair in Little Rock, AR costs $175–$450 for standard torsion spring replacement. The Spring Package (springs + drums + bearings) runs $575–$650. The Full Rebuild — springs, drums, cables, end bearings, center bearing, and rollers — is $799–$1,099 with 5-year or Lifetime warranty options. All options available same-day throughout Central Arkansas. Call (501) 244-3667.
Most homeowners describe it the same way: a gunshot. Or a car backfiring in the garage. Then the door won't move. Your torsion spring — mounted above the door on a steel shaft — failed under tension. That spring is the counterbalance for your entire door's weight. Without it, your opener can't budge it.
A double-car door weighs 200–400 lbs. The spring makes it feel like 10 lbs to lift. When it breaks, that counterbalance is gone. Your opener is not designed to lift dead weight — forcing it will strip the drive gear or burn out the motor.
End bearings sit at each end of the torsion shaft inside the bearing plates. When they wear out, they don't spin freely — they drag on the torsion tube. That drag forces the spring to work harder on every single cycle, building friction heat and accelerating metal fatigue. A spring rated for 10,000 cycles may fail in 4,000–5,000 because the end bearings were never replaced. Most companies swap the spring and leave. We check the bearings on every call — because replacing a spring without addressing worn bearings just resets the clock on the same failure.
End bearings are a core component of our Rebuild — not an add-on, not optional. Replace the spring without the bearings and you haven't fixed the system. You've just restarted it.
Three distinct packages — each with its own scope, its own pricing, and its own warranty. The Rebuild is not a spring job with extras. It's a full mechanical system restoration. See our full pricing guide →
Most companies try to sell you a door. We save the one you have.
Most companies push new doors because the margin is higher. We push the option that makes sense for your situation.
Mounted horizontally above the door on a steel shaft. Torsion springs wind up as the door closes, storing rotational energy, then release that energy to lift the door when it opens. This is the counterbalance system — it's what makes a 300-pound door feel like it weighs 10 pounds.
When a torsion spring breaks, you'll hear a loud bang — often mistaken for a gunshot or something falling in the attic. Look above the door: if you see a gap in the coil, that's your answer.
Mounted on either side of the door, running parallel to the horizontal tracks. Extension springs stretch as the door closes and contract to help lift it open. They're a simpler mechanism but have a shorter lifespan and a more dangerous failure mode.
When an extension spring breaks, it can become a projectile — launching across the garage at high speed. That's why safety cables should always be threaded through the spring. If your extension springs don't have safety cables, that's a repair we prioritize.
TorqueMaster (Wayne Dalton) houses the spring inside the torsion tube. When it fails, it requires a complete rebuild — the housing lacks the standard anchor bracket and drums needed for conventional replacement.
Commercial roll-up doors, shop doors, and metal building doors use heavier-gauge springs under higher tension. We carry commercial-spec hardware and service these systems throughout Central Arkansas.
Central Arkansas runs from single-digit ice storms in January to 100°F+ heat in July. That 90°F+ annual temperature swing accelerates metal fatigue — and worn end bearings compound the damage.
Cold contracts springs and increases tension at the worst time. A spring near end-of-life all summer often snaps on the first cold January morning — especially when worn end bearings are adding extra drag load. Our peak emergency months, every year.
Uninsulated garages hit 130–145°F in July. Sustained heat degrades bearing lubrication, accelerates spring fatigue, and causes plastic bearing components to crack — transferring drag to the torsion tube months before the bearing visibly fails.
Arkansas's persistent humidity accelerates rust on uncoated springs and corrodes bearing surfaces. Corroded bearings seize and increase torsion tube drag. Oil-tempered springs and sealed bearings — both standard in our Rebuild — are the right spec for this climate.
For Central Arkansas homes with recurring spring failures, the Rebuild is the climate answer. Replace every component that gets beat up by temperature cycling — in one visit, with a warranty that accounts for these conditions.
No hold music, no voicemail, no callback queue. A real person picks up, gives you an honest arrival window, and starts diagnosing the problem over the phone while your tech is on the way.
Fully stocked truck, every time. Springs, cables, rollers, drums, opener components — if it's a standard residential failure, the part is almost certainly already on the truck.
We look at the whole system — not just what broke. You get a single flat-rate number covering the complete fix before any wrench turns.
3-year parts warranty on every repair. Emergency response doesn't mean a lower bar. If anything we touched fails inside that window, we come back.

Mr. Parnell came out and replaced broken torsion springs, rollers, etc and got me back up and running quickly and on the same day I called. Very friendly and knows what he is doing. Very easy to work with. Would recommend.
I had a great experience with Parnell Lester, he was personable, informative, and professional. Our garage door spring broke and he came out the next day to take a look at it, I was expecting him to need to order parts and take a week or two for them to come in but he had everything he needed ready to go! He was able to fix my garage door and give it a tune up within an hour. Highly recommend working with Direct Service Overhead and especially Parnell.
First of all, I'd like to thank Travis who does absolutely amazing work! He arrived on time and explained the issues to me thouroughly. I had broken springs, worn out drums, and also needed a couple of other things that Travis showed me were extremely worn. He also tightened the chain, lubed the rollers and cleaned up light covers that mount over the lift motor (free)! The price was very fair and of course, the work was done perfectly. It does pay too call on someone who has loads of experience and is so professional and honest. I will never use any other company and when my friends or family need something done involving garage door services, I will most certainly refer them to Direct Service Garage Door!! 5+ Star Excellence!!
Excellent job, showed up quickly, replaced my broken garage door spring, was kind, and finally affordable. Highly recommend.
It’s been years since DSO serviced my garage. I still remember being a young homeowner at 19 and ignorant to what it takes to maintain a home. Travis came and fixed the spring in our garage. I was nervous about the bill and he let me pay in small increments. There are businesses and then there are businesses with character. DSO sets the standard for the latter. This review is 12 years too late.
Excellent response time and quality work. Travis did a comprehensive assessment of my old door and made it like new. Recommend them highly.
After scouring the internet I landed on Direct Service Garage Doors and I’m very happy I did. A broken torsion spring left our garage door inoperable. I was able to schedule service that day and Parnell arrived in a few hours. It took him around 30 minutes to have us up and running and he even installed some missing screws from the original installation.
Travis was amazing and told me another company had installed the wrong spring and failed to balance my door. My door was so noisy that I thought I needed a new door but with a few tweaks and new rollers, my door sounds likes it’s almost new again! Thank you so much for the honest service!
We have used Direct several times at 2 different homes in Little Rock. Each time, either Travis or Parnell have gotten to us within 24 hours. Both men are so friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. The prices are competitive. Today, Parnell showed up on time (a little early actually). A spring had broken on our door. He replaced the rod, springs and all necessary parts and it came with a 5 year warranty. As usual, he was friendly and he works quickly! Oh - today is SUNDAY! He told me they work on weekends too because “garage doors don’t sleep”😃I would definitely recommend this company.
Parnell did an excellent job of replacing my garage spring. He was very efficient, explained what needed to be done, and was very courteous in it all.
My spring broke on my garage door on a Sunday and they were out in an hour to fix it. Great customer service!! Highly recommend!!
Travis was awesome! He came all the way from the other side of maumelle to Little Rock and fixed my garage door springs. He explained everything he was doing and when everything needed to be replaced. Took him maybe 20 minutes total!
I Had a wonderful experience. I will ask for the same technician the next time I have an issue ~he was thorough & Knowledgeable! Thank you Parnell!
I was more than satisfied with Travis's work doing a complete overhaul in a hour. He shared his knowledge of what was going on and what needed to be repaired and replaced. He had great communication skills and diligent work ethics. I will be gladly sharing this experience with other people i know, and refer your business to them.
Travis the installer was professional and courteous. He was knowledgeable and skilled in replacing my springs and additional parts. My garage door now opens and closes quietly.
I love this guy. Big smile and heart match his confidence and expert knowledge. Diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. Same wonderful experience as 2 years ago when he rebuilt the spring on my garage door. A pleasure to work with. I would like to hear him sing at Kareoke sometime. Thanks.
Travis was excellent! Very friendly, knowledgeable, and low pressure. He installed the same equipment for significantly less and in less than an hour.
Travis was great! I had one of my springs break and he replaced both of them for a very reasonable price. He noticed the door was previously installed at an angle which caused it to rub. He fixed that for me at no extra cost. Will definitely do business with them again!
Travis was very professional Showed up 1 Hour after calling. Replaced the springs and pulleys was done in 45 minutes
Parnell was a really knowledgeable service person, and he had our garage door springs replaced in about 30 minutes!
